A Timeless White Wedding at Water’s Edge Filled With Textural, Garden-Style Florals
Some weddings feel like a breath of fresh air the moment you step into them—clean, classic, and confidently understated. This Water’s Edge celebration struck that perfect balance. Framed by a hot, hazy-blue summer sky and the sparkle of the coastline just yards away, the day carried that dreamy, effortless energy you only get during peak Connecticut summer.
From the sculptural ceremony columns to the candlelit reception glow, every detail of this full-service wedding was rooted in timeless design. The couple prioritized classic styling, sophisticated florals, and an all-white palette executed with intention. The result: elegance that felt both editorial and deeply romantic.
bouqets and bouts
The bride’s bouquet set the tone—an all-white, textural gathering of Playa Blanca roses, soft garden roses, spray roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, and white anemones layered intentionally so every stem contributed lightness and depth. In the summer sun, the bouquet absolutely glowed. One of our favorite micro-moments of the day was the way the bouquet picked up the breeze and the late-afternoon warmth; it added a lovely softness against the structured gown.
Bridesmaids carried petite white posies designed to feel delicate, classic, and visually cohesive without competing with the bridal bouquet. Mothers and grandmother wore our signature brass cuff corsages set with white ranunculus and subtle textural accents—simple, polished, and elegant.
The groom, groomsmen, fathers, and grandfathers all wore classic white boutonnières tied in ivory ribbon. We loved the moment when the men gathered in the ballroom to pin everyone’s flowers—one of those candid, quietly emotional wedding-day scenes that always stands out.
fashion
The bridal fashion, sourced and styled from The White Dress, featured a timeless strapless gown with a beautifully textured fabric that photographed like a dream—especially outdoors where the material caught that summer haze. The groom and groomsmen wore sharp, classic menswear from @brooksbrothers, which aligned perfectly with the couple’s sophisticated, all-white vision.
Hair by @katebensonbeauty and makeup by @connecticutmakeupartist leaned into clean, polished, natural beauty—editorial but approachable, the kind of styling that sits beautifully against a bright-water backdrop and transitions seamlessly into candlelit evening photos.
ceremony
Set on the Water’s Edge lawn, the ceremony was a true highlight—one of our favorite scenes of the entire day. The couple stood framed by two white columns topped with tall, reaching floral arrangements in an all-white palette: roses, lisianthus, snapdragons, tweedia, campanula, freesia, and local greenery.
At the base of each column, grounded floral meadows added fullness and created a sculptural “frame” around the couple. Against the cloudless blue sky and shimmering water, the florals looked bright, dimensional, and effortlessly elegant.
The atmosphere was spectacular—warm sun, ocean breeze, and that golden late-afternoon light that makes everything look soft and luminous. The ceremony genuinely felt like a coastal editorial moment.
After vows were exchanged, we repurposed the grounded meadows inside to anchor the reception—a favorite part of full-service design because it keeps the floral story connected from start to finish.
centerpiece + reception details
Inside the ballroom, the design shifted into a candle-forward aesthetic. Round tables dressed in clean white linens were styled with clusters of modern glass hurricanes, tall taper candles, and delicate white budvases showcasing orlaya, garden roses, anemones, and lisianthus.
This was intentional restraint at its best—romantic, airy, and perfectly suited to the room’s architecture. Once the sun dipped, the entire ballroom glowed. Seeing the space illuminated solely by candlelight was one of our favorite reception moments; the atmosphere felt warm, intimate, and effortlessly elegant.
The ceremony meadows, repurposed indoors, added a cushioned moment of floral richness and tied the entire day together. The combination of candlelight + airy blooms created a cohesive, polished design that reflected the couple’s sophisticated vision.
