A Summer Seaside Wedding So Full of Joy, You Could Bottle It

Some weddings just have that thing, you know? The kind of day where everything feels golden—full of light, laughter, and just the right breeze off the water. This one? It was sunshine in event form. Set at the charming Saybrook Point Resort & Marina in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, this spring wedding was coastal-meets-colorful perfection from start to finish.

With expert planning by the ever-talented Wildflower Events, a palette that danced between soft pastels and playful brights, and the happiest couple you can imagine, the day was a masterclass in joyful wedding design. And of course, the floral design brought it all together—textural, lush, and just a little bit cheeky (our favorite). If you’re looking for wedding flower inspiration that feels fresh, romantic, and a touch whimsical, this one’s for you.

bouquets + bouts

Let’s talk about that bouquet, shall we? The bride carried a bouquet that practically smiled at you—overflowing with early summer’s greatest hits. Coral charm peonies (our version of floral celebrity status), peachy ranunculus, sunny yellow garden roses, and peach snapdragons gave the bouquet its warmth and life. Dutch blue delphinium added that little wink of contrast, tied off with a soft antique blue ribbon that fluttered just so in the breeze.

The bridesmaids carried petite versions of the same joyful palette. With their burgundy gowns, the florals popped like a spring garden in full bloom. These posies weren’t just pretty—they were pure personality, reflecting the vibrant energy of the day.

For the groomsmen, we kept it sharp and simple: classic white spray rose boutonnieres tied with white ribbon. Clean, elegant, and camera-ready. The groom wore a coral spray rose to tie in the brighter notes, a subtle nod to the bouquet without going full boutonniere bomb. Balance is everything, after all.

ceremony

Here’s the thing about waterfront ceremonies at Saybrook Point: they don’t need much to be stunning. So we focused on designing florals that enhanced the natural beauty without competing with it.

Two oversized arrangements in crisp white pedestal stands framed the altar space, overflowing with coral peonies, pale yellow roses, delphinium, and local blooms with movement and texture. They flanked the couple as they exchanged vows under a perfect blue sky, the waves lapping behind them like nature’s soundtrack.

We added low ground arrangements with a wild, just-picked feel to layer in softness and a sense of place. Not overdone, just right. And for that all-important first impression? A tall, rattan-detailed seating chart greeted guests at the ceremony entrance, grounded by a pair of lush arrangements that made the welcome feel intentional and photogenic.

centerpiece + reception details

Let’s just say: this reception brought the fun. We designed a mix of centerpiece styles to keep things dynamic and layered.

On some tables, tall metal stands held bold, colorful arrangements that danced above guests’ heads—full of peonies, hydrangeas, garden roses, and trailing elements that gave them a little drama (in the best way). On other tables, low ceramic compotes brimmed with romantic blooms in coral, yellow, peach, and soft blue. That blend of heights and textures made the room feel full and alive, like stepping into the middle of a painting.

The sweetheart table was a stunner—centered around a low, lush arrangement with trailing greenery, citrus-hued blossoms, and pops of orange that caught the last of the golden-hour light. We tucked in rattan votive candles for warmth and texture, a nod to the coastal setting that felt effortlessly chic.

Elsewhere, we used rattan lanterns across cocktail tables and lounge spaces to bring in soft light and a little beachy charm. The overall vibe? Easy-breezy elegance with color and character to spare.

fashion + notes

This couple? Absolute class acts. The bride wore a minimalist white gown with a square neckline that screamed timeless grace. No fuss, no frills—just clean lines and quiet elegance that let her glow do all the talking.

Her groom looked equally dapper in a classic navy suit, with a burgundy tie that perfectly complemented the bridesmaids' dresses and the brighter florals. Speaking of those bridesmaid dresses—deep burgundy, full of richness, the perfect grounding hue for all the punchy pastels in the bouquets.

One of our favorite personal touches? A gold bracelet passed down through generations of women in the bride’s family, worn as her “something old.” Heirloom details like that always get us. There’s just something so moving about weaving history into your day in a way that’s personal and intentional.

And while we’re talking intention: Saybrook Point Resort isn’t just pretty (though it is gorgeously coastal). It also has decades of experience in weddings, with a staff that knows how to keep things running smoother than a chilled rosé on a hot day. Trust us—when you're navigating things like vendor arrivals, floral installations, and guest transitions, that kind of experience is gold.

From the pastel florals to the emotional vows by the sea, every piece of this wedding just fit. There’s a special kind of magic that happens when a couple’s joy radiates through every decision—and this was one of those days.

The florals were joyful and textural, the setting impossibly scenic, and the energy electric in all the right ways. And at the center of it all? Two people madly in love, surrounded by family, friends, and flowers that were just as full of life as they are.
