A Backyard Lavender Wedding Filled With Rustic Charm + Natural Beauty
Private home weddings have their own magic — and their own logistics. You’re essentially building a venue from scratch: tenting, tables, power, layout, the works. But when it all comes together, especially under a glowing Sperry tent with lavender and herbs lining every farm table, it becomes something unforgettable. This backyard Jewish wedding transformed a family home into a warm, rustic, lavender-scented celebration that felt equal parts personal and beautifully designed.
A Natural Bride With a Timeless Style
Our bride’s look was the perfect mix of vintage and modern simplicity. She wore a deep-V bridal gown featuring a vintage-style bodice with delicate bow-hole lace, paired with a sleek satin A-line skirt that flowed effortlessly as she moved through the garden. Tiny satin buttons trailed down the back for that soft, classic touch, and she paired it all with a light, airy veil that caught the breeze just enough to feel cinematic.
Her bridal bouquet mirrored her aesthetic — natural, textured, and quietly elegant. We built a loose, garden-inspired bundle featuring lavender sprigs, soft greenery, and clusters of baby’s breath, keeping the palette gentle and organic.
Standing beside her was a large bridal party, the bridesmaids dressed in light gray and slate gray gowns that created a soft, misty palette against the greenery of the backyard. The look was serene, chic, and perfectly balanced with the rustic surroundings.
The Groom + Wedding Party: Classic, Clean, and Understated
The groom and groomsmen kept things sharp but relaxed with black suits, crisp white collared shirts, and no ties — a look that read effortlessly cool rather than overly formal.
To tie in the natural theme, each boutonniere featured fresh herbs, sprigs of lavender, and tiny accents of baby’s breath, creating an earthy, intimate detail guests couldn’t stop commenting on.
The organic undertone of the florals kept everything cohesive and comfortable — exactly right for a backyard celebration infused with meaning and ease.
A Backyard Ceremony Rooted in Tradition
This was a Jewish wedding, and the ceremony was held under a beautifully simple chuppah accented with greenery, soft floral touches, and the surrounding garden itself. The couple wanted something natural and unobtrusive — something that felt like it had grown there rather than been constructed for a day.
The air was filled with the scent of lavender and herbs, grounding the ceremony in sensory detail while family and friends gathered close. It felt intimate, authentic, and deeply personal.
Guests were welcomed with small touches that nodded to the couple’s style: hand-tied sprigs of lavender, minimal signage, and natural textures woven quietly into the design.
Farmhouse Tables, Potted Plants, and Candlelight: A Rustic Reception Dream
Under the crisp lines of the Sperry tent, the reception design came to life with long, communal farmhouse tables stretching in warm, inviting lines beneath the canopy. Instead of traditional centerpieces, the couple opted for potted plants, herbs, and lavender, creating a tablescape that felt alive, edible, and grounded. Rosemary, thyme, sage, and lavender plants added fragrance and texture, and after the wedding, many of the pots went home with guests as living favors.
Interspersed among the greenery were dozens of candles — tapers, votives, and soft glass lanterns — creating that signature glow that only a candlelit tent wedding can achieve. As dusk settled, the space transformed into a warm, aromatic cocoon of flickering light and garden scent.
It was rustic, but refined. Elevated, yet deeply personal. The kind of design that made guests lean in and linger long after the sun dipped.
Lavender Details Everywhere (In the Best Way)
Lavender played a starring role throughout the day, appearing in:
the bride’s bouquet
boutonnières
table decor
escort styling
potted plants
ceremony accents
even moments of scent throughout the evening
Between the fragrance, the color, and the texture, it created continuity from one moment to the next. It’s the perfect example of how a single floral ingredient can softly anchor an entire wedding aesthetic.
As guests gathered under the tent for blessings, dancing, and family traditions, the entire wedding took on a feeling of warmth — the kind you can’t stage, only invite. The fragrance of herbs and lavender drifted through the air, mingling with laughter and the glow of candlelight.
The design was minimalistic in the best way: nothing overdone, nothing too polished, everything intentional.
This wedding wasn’t about extravagance — it was about atmosphere. Mood. Connection. A chance for friends and family to gather around those long, welcoming farmhouse tables and share a meal in the open air.
It was rustic, but never rough. Natural, but never plain. Elegant, but never fussy.
